The Redshirts campaign is a no-magic, high-tech campaign setting in the distant future. The party are a group of enlisted members of the military forces of the Vela Republic.
While the players are supposed to represent a small part of a large army of faceless minions, DM's are asked to allow players plenty of leeway when it comes to players creating characters. This game is supposed to be fun, after all.
In keeping with the faceless minions theme, we like to play Redshirts as a high lethality game with the typical expectation that a party of 3-5 people will suffer about 1 player death per game. DM's should generally hold off on killing a player until the end of a session, unless a player does something particularly stupid. After all, sitting around for a couple of hours with nothing to do isn't all that fun.
