Sky Sentinel: Coloradans gain a +1 racial bonus on attack rolls, a +2 dodge bonus to AC, and a +2 racial bonus on perception checks against flying creatures. Additionally, creatures on higher ground gain no attack roll bonus against Coloradans.
Climb: Coloradans have a climb speed of 20' + strength score - armour penalty, and gain a +8 racial bonus to climb checks.
Mountaneer: Coloradans are immune to altitude sickness, and do not lose their dex bonus to their AC when climbing or making acrobatics check to cross narrow or slippery surfaces.
Curiosity: Coloradans are naturally inquisitive about the world around them. They gain a +4 bonus on Diplomacy checks to gather information, and Knowledge (history) and Knowledge (local) become class skills for them. If they choose a class that has either of these Knowledge skills as class skills, they gain a +2 racial bonus on those skills instead.
Fearless: Coloradans gain a +2 racial bonus on all saving throws against fear effects.
Scent: Coloradans have unusually sensitive senses of smell, and gain the Scent ability.
Coloradans are a heavy built bipedal species, typically between 6 and 7 feet tall and 200 to 300 pounds (which is mostly muscle). They have very square facial features, and most of their body is covered in fur which varies in length with the climatic conditions. Their skin is typically a brownish-grey colour, and their fur is a variety of brown or grey shades (and often in various patterns).
In their own language, the Coloradans name for themselves translates as "The Holy Climbers of the Sacred Peak". Combined with a tonal language with frequency ranges beyond the speech capabilities of most humans (and many other species as well), it is typical and generally accepted that other species will use other terms for the Coloradans.
Coloradans are native to the rugged world of New Colorado. First contact with them was made by a mining expedition, and the natives were integrated into the local human society unusually quickly.
While Coloradan technology and Culture is still primitive compared to most other space-faring races, they are an adaptive and quick thinking race - a useful survival trait in the treacherous mountains of New Colorado. Groups of Coloradans form a strong pack mentality, and they typically live in groups of several dozen. While they are often family based, this is by no means the rule. With the increasing urbanization of New Colorado that has come with their increased tech base, Coloradans often form themselves into temporary packs for trips into the wilderness. Their equivalent of cabin fever is an extremely powerful instinct-level urge, and represents an ongoing factor that their society is still adapting to even they reach into the stars.
